Hello All,

I'm facing with a strange issue with the latest 32bits porteus 1.1. First I've installed my usb stick under windows. Then tried it on a portable. Everything was ok. Then shutdown computer and tried it on another one, and had the message "boot error". Tried it again on the first computer and saw "boot error". Now, I'm unable to use this usb stick.

The only thing I did before it started to fail booting, is writing a file at the usb stick root.

Does anyone has ever faced to this issue?

Thanks by advance for your help.

please plug the stick under windows and check ia all the data are still there.
if yes then try to repeat installation (maybe just MBR got corrupted)
if no data is there then you will have to format stick once again i'm afraid.

btw: this error should never occur as shutdown script calls 'sync' command few times which always let's copying to finish.
please let me know if this kind of error appears again in the future.

Datas were always here when I put the usb stick under windows, but I was still unable to boot on the key.
I've formatted the usb stick under windows, reinstalled, and it's ok now.

I'm wondering if this issue could be a hardware issue since I've used a lot this stick before?

Thanks for your help,

Yeah, some sectors could be broken...and they needed to be fixed

Glad it works now :)
