[SCRIPT] Convert a slacky package to Porteus module

Post#1 by brokenman » 20 Mar 2011, 03:22

This script will search the online slacky repo and convert the chosen module into a Porteus compliant module that contains a list of all required dependencies and is slackware compatible. You can also convert and existing 'SLACKY' package from your HD

This is the first release of this script (alpha) and later versions will include support for official slackware repo.

Usage:
1. Download script and save it as /usr/bin/slackonverter.sh
2. Make it executable: chmod +x /usr/bin/slackonverter.sh
3. Run it: slackonverter.sh
Download the script here

Hello brokenman. Very interested in your script.

I have downloaded it, installed it in the appropriate directory. Here is what I get as much on my standard installation with the save change folder as with the always fresh method:

root@slax:/usr/bin# slackonverter.sh
-bash: /usr/bin/slackonverter.sh: /bin/bash^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
root@slax:/usr/bin#
root@slax:/usr/bin# ls slackonverter.sh
slackonverter.sh*
root@slax:/usr/bin#

The file is executable as I can see in the permission of the files.

But maybe I need the developper package?

Sorry Francois ... something about the IIS server was screwing up the script. I've fixed the link now, just copy the text into your own file while inside of slax and make it executable.

@francois
"/bin/bash^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory"
always mean windows text formatting, use 'formdos' utility (included in Porteus) to fix that.

@brokenman
will test your package manager with a pleasure :)
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

I have begun to test it. Works an looks quite interesting. I will report when I will have more results.

Maybe the problem will be to set the sources so that one could access as much a variety of package possible.

This script has been removed from the server.

Brokenman has removed the content of the directory "upload" on the porteus.org. This script will not be available until Brokenman re-upload it on the server.

Sorry Again.

What are you trying to do exactly? Maybe there is another way around.

By the way, welcome to the Porteus forum.
