Installing Porteus on HD

Post#1 by patherton » 23 Jul 2013, 08:05

The Sticky How to Real install Poretus on HD Sticky Topic is no longer valid, since you have Syslinux folder. It needs editing. I did follow that, had to copy Porteus folder, in which case I ended up with Porteus Installer version, which does not save any configuration to HD as persistent.

How can I really have a HD Installed version with Custom ISO of Porteus 2.1

Thanks,
pete

Are you familiar with Linux? Are you working from a Linux environment? For example you can setup porteus from a USB installed version of porteus or from a CD.

From linux here is my favorite strategy:

@patherton
you need to add 'changes=' cheatcode (refer to /boot/docs/cheatcodes.txt for description) to your bootloader config or setup 'magic folders' in Porteus Settings Centre to achieve persistence.
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.
