Re: Modularity and "Run From Ram"...

The way I did it if each level dependency free then the upgrade should be easy. If it like a program changes all the time then put it in the module directory along with the ones you add for your self. What i was thinking if you want to change desktop just replace 003- desktop just change that one. Like 003-extra keep all of it dependency in 003-extra and do the rest for all of them.

This would be easy for everyone and even brokenman. There would be a lot of work at first to set up each module but after that it should be easy.

Maybe I needed to start my own thread on this idea. Hope you understand this.

This is just a thought and my 0.02 cent.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Ok... so far I eliminated everything from the 2nd list without breaking anything.

@ boot there is a little minor complaining from a configuration
(that uses the "pcap" package) but other than that it's smooth sailing.

That leaves the 1st list. I think it can be trimmed further without breakage.

@ boot I get these errors...

Code: Select all

linuxrc: line 461: /union/bin/eject: not found

command: error while reading shared libraries: libpcap.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
