Webcam software

Is there any software for Webcam? Can any one give me any idea on some that will work for Mate.

I found this with USM "wmwebcam-0.3.5-x86_64-1_slack.xzm".
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

VLC can also be used to view and record your webcam. In VLC's file menu, open the 'Capture Device...' dialog and enter the video and audio device files. Or from the command line, do:

Code: Select all

vlc v4l:// :v4l-vdev="/dev/video0" :v4l-adev="/dev/audio2"
More information I found here : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/webcam_setup

EDIT:
I did use USM to build it but I manualy downloaded the 14.2 version to get up-to-date packages.
