I pushed a rather major update today. I have rewritten the boot time network setup. The config/network file has changed format and it now uses netctl to setup your connection.
If the line Interface= is commented out then dhcpcd will be run against all interfaces.
After booting you can issue: netctl

You can manually set up a wireless connection by issuing: wifi-menu

After lunch I am going to close public access to git. It's not working out as I intended. An ISO will be offered instead.

Closed public git. Testers should download the ISO from: http://brokenman.porteus.org/nemesis/testing
Anyone interested in helping develop and maintain (you must have the ability to investigate problems and offer solutions) should contact me.

Latest edition is v1.2-151101

How to get it. [README FIRST] and discussion (Post by brokenman #37279)

I have bumped the kernel to 4.2.5 and included all kernel headers, kernel sources and application headers in the modules folder

Other changes include:
Addition of more config files in config folder.
Fixed bug where nemesis is installed in subfolder.
Added yaourt to 001.
Added 003-lxde so you should have everything you need to build further.
Added 04-palemoon web browser.
If you remove 003-lxde you will need to login and run startx to get to openbox. An xterm will automatically open for you.

Please test and report bugs. Thanks.

There is a problem with the iso here. I can download and mloop iso, but I am not able to copy some files from /mnt/loop on hdd:

Code: Select all

Cannot copy /mnt/loop/.../nemesis.pgn (errnor 5)
... plpbt (errno 5)
... syslinux.cfg (errno 5)
... vesamenu.c32 (errno 5)
...

Hum!!
I do not get that problem with my second linux box. There must be something wrong with the downloads or my porteus hdd installation on the other linux box.

The mount-problems I had in the testing was a bit strange,
is this a but or the way Arch must work or is it just some work that have not been done yet in this beta?

I must say this again, I am very impressed how well this works already, Actually I think it ts supernice,
very resource friendly and speedy on my old Lenovo T400!)

Regarding Mount

Should not an USB inserted later on always pop up in FM as auto-mounted?
or at least show up in the pcmanfm left panel so we can easy mount/unmound them/drives (partitions)
As it did in my LXDE for slackware,

I really like how the pcmanfm did this in the old lxde 3.01.
The new one seems to have some issues still, :-)

Also the function "open as root"(or sudoer) with just right-click on a file/folder + the passwd ,
that would be very nice to have in pcmanFM also, If I can wish things to add for more userfriendlyness :-)

Okay :-)
I tested the new one today also ,

Ok,I will do my best to summarize what I found that feels a bit odd,
Im not a professional linuxer, So you might get some redundant / not relevant / newbie-"bugs" also.. :-D

Porteus-nemesis-v3.3

Setup-pman copies ALPM_DB_VERSION to final module
Added libtool to base modules for gnome-screenshot.
Added ~/.config/gtk-3.0/ for gtk3 anomaly
Removed error about lxdm.service shortcut on startup
Fixed problem with mtab being copied to changes hanging boot.
Replaced netctl with nmcli
Replaced setup-network script with nmtui (for now)
Fixed sudo error in setup-locale script
Added autorun script on module activation
- add script to /etc/activate/module-name.xzm (accepts start argument)
Added update porteus modules function
Added autologin to guest account
Added virtualbox builder (report bugs please)

I am finding more and more bugs each day which are disappointing. Random freezes. Maxed out cpu. Building arch without systemd is tempting but I know it would take more work to keep up with new packages released that are required to work with openrc and not systemd.
