Dell Inspiron 1525 with Nemesis

I thought I would never do this...

I'm trying Porteus Nemesis 3.5 LXDE x86_64 to see if it will work with the Laptop. So far I install these programs.
1. FireFox
2. FlashPlayer
3. LibreOffice
4. Cheese
5. gLabels
6. Calculator
7. DropBox
8. gFtp
9. ClipGrab

Will I have to setup cheese to make it work with the Webcam?

Right now I use a 4GB USB thumb drive and I'm going to move to a 16GB USB thumb drive. Nemesis run great so far. I will keep you up-to-date what I do. Later I will remove LXDE and try to install Mate.

I just upgraded Nemesis LXDE but it won't updrade "dcadec" it said it all ready there but how can I remove it from the upgrade list?

I don't think so. What it might be you a lot and I know sum and 2 head are better then 1. I just use Mint for awhile and I learn how to install program the easy way cause Slackware is a little bit harder to do. I might need some help with Nemesis. Once I was able to get pman or pacman to work I and upgraded it. Then I just start adding program's I wanted

Why I use Nemesis cause it base on Manjaro and Arch Linux and all the work I did to that Laptop I had to see what would or would not work. Everything seem to work but the Bluetooth but I don't know what program's I need for it.

Right now I'm running Mate on a 80GB Hard Drive, Cinnamon on a 16GB USB thumb drive and Nemesis on a 16GB USB thumb drive. I order 2 more caddy for that Laptop so each OS Has there own Hard Drive. One thing I can change the Hard Drive in 1 minute. Another good thing Mate, Cinnamon and Nemesis are live version. Win 7 is a full install and I might make Manjaro a full install too.

And I'm not nuts or sick I just like this Laptop. And the CPU and Memory was the best thing I did cause it now run supper great.

About documentation:

Remember arch is not slackware, configuration highly depends on the arch wiki, so every-time you have an issue the first thing you have to do is "google" "arch... your-issue..."
Remember the init system here is OpenRC and not Systemd, so everytime you see something about systemd @ wiki it will probably not respond. There are OpenRC specific stuff too.
Manjaro wiki is of course minimal, but worth to study to get the general idea.

About bluetooth:
for example: google: "arch bluetooth"... you will have to study https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bluetooth and then check all of the rest.

I personally can advice you to also search and try rfkill command, some laptops depend on this for enable/disable wireless buttons with various results:
again....
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi ... ill_caveat

example on my notebook:

Code: Select all

guest ~ $ rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: yes
	Hard blocked: yes
1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: yes
	Hard blocked: no
2: hp-bluetooth: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: yes
	Hard blocked: no
in case you will have to modprobe a bluetooth module:

@istinnjazz,

Right now here is the rfkill command show this.

Code: Select all

guest ~ $ rfkill list all
0: hci0: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
guest ~ $
If I type bluetooth in terminal it show this.

Code: Select all

guest ~ $ bluetooth
bash: bluetooth: command not found
guest ~ $ su
Password:
root /home/guest # bluetooth
bash: bluetooth: command not found
root /home/guest #

Please read carefully the related arch wiki. Afaik There is no such command as "bluetooth". I m sure you have not found it anywere in arch. Follow documentation and try not to use commands specific to other distros. Spend some time studing the basics of arch and experiment with it. Then fix your bluetooth issues.

I know I need a file or program to get to work but I don't what one. Some one on Manjaro gave me those links to learn.

When I get another caddy for my laptop I'm going to do a full install of Manjaro "Mate or Cinnoman" but I don't know which.

I only started running Nemesis to check out this Laptop but since I have try it I now like it so I will keep using it.

I'm also going to do a full install of Slackware soon.

rm -rf /usr/lib/libdcadec.so.0
    pacman -S dcadec
