Nemesis: testers needed

Forum members are asked to test the nemesis porteus-arch hybrid with pman. Note that you will be left with a
system in cli mode only for now, with no Xorg. For now the goal is to test the hardware detection, pman (pacman based module manager) and familiarize yourself with pacman.
Latest iso (only x86-64 for now):
20151010
http://www.mediafire.com/download/f16nd ... x86_64.iso
20151007
http://www.mediafire.com/download/t0mdg ... x86_64.iso
To use the iso:
viewtopic.php?f=137&t=5066
CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET:
1.0
OR
2.0 If it does not work use dhcpcd <link> :
The case of a wired connection: on my computer.
root@nemesis:/mnt/sda5/34bit_v31/porteus# ip link
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2:
epn3s0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP mode DEFAULT qlen 1000
link/ether e8:e0:b7:39:9d:62 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
root@nemesis:/mnt/sda5/34bit_v31/porteus#
root@nemesis:~# dhcpcd
epn3s0
AND
3.0 and to have dhcpcd enp3s0 at bootup automatically, using systemd to have the connection at bootup automatically (given that you are in persistence mode, i.e. changes= ):
From the above example:
root@nemesis:~# systemctl start dhcpcd@
epn3s0.service
or edit the file in iso/config/network and add your network preferences.
SYNCHRONIZING THE ARCH LINUX DATABASE:
PMAN (pman or
pacman module wrapper):
When you have a connection you need to run: setup-pman to get pman working and to update package database
This will setup pacman ready for use. Now you can pull in packages. For more info on pman: pman -h.
Pacman:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman
Systemd and systemctl:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Systemd

@blaze and others:
Any nemesis built that you do and want to share, I will post on the first post of this thread. Personally, I don't think that we need to issue more than one a week. But if someone provide them I will post them. Otherwise, I should produce one once a week.

I would be willing to test the system on the netbooks I have but building the system is a bit beyond me. But downloading and booting an ISO I should be able to do.
Some suggestions as to what to run in CLI mode to test the system would be helpful.
If my knowledge level is too limited for this you can say no.

It's really quite simple to build it. Just find some space on a partition. Let's say sda8 for example.
First install git via USM
Code: Select all
mkdir /mnt/sda8/nemesis && cd !!:*
git clone https://brokenman@bitbucket.org/brokenman/nemesis.git git
mkdir build && cd !!:*
../git/scripts/build.sh 001
Follow the prompts, press y[enter] a few times and you have your iso folder updated.
Code: Select all
cd ../git/x86_64/iso/nemesis/
./make_iso.sh
Now your shiny new nemesis ISO is sitting in the temp folder. When you want to pull the latest updates. Just go inside the git folder and type:
git pull
You MUST be inside the build folder when you build the 001 module.
On a side note, we need a nice font and a nice logo. Also a nice ASCII art would be good.

@ed:
ISO is in the first post. Same install as with porteus stock.
Try a vbox installation first. It will be easier. Nano is the text editor in command line.

After update iso (git pull)
nemesis-v3.1-x86_64-20151010.iso, i tried to login via root account and received this error
Code: Select all
-bash: /etc/porteus.conf : No such file or directory
then i tried to install pman (on step of choosing the mirror) i received this error
then i tried to install abs package and i received this error
Then i tried
Code: Select all
pacman -S xorg-server mousepad xfce4

Not sure WHEN you did the git pull, but you shouldn't have any troubles logging in as root. Can anyone confirm?
then i tried to install pman (on step of choosing the mirror) i received this error
This is not an error. It is saying your modules folder is not writable (or not there). The module is in /tmp
then i tried to install abs package and i received this error
It is not finding the 'config' file on the root of the file system. Is it there?
Then i tried
pacman -S xorg-server mousepad xfce4
You simply ran out of storage space.

@blaze:
Are you working nemesis as guest in vbox? You are working with the iso =sr0. This is why you get the space error. You want to install nemesis onto a vbox hdd, something like nemesis.vdi.
1.0 format 14gig to ext4 and 2gig to linuxswap a nemesis.vdi 16gig from with Porteus-XFCE4-v3.1-x86_64.iso in vbox first (It will be more easy with X environment with gparted)
2.0 change Porteus-KDE4-v3.1-x86_64.iso for nemesis.iso and transfer file on nemesis.vdi (/mnt/sda1) from sr0
3.0 change back to the Porteus-KDE4-v3.1-x86_64.iso an use the porteus installer to have the syslinux bootloader
4.0 reboot without the iso
I am presently providing the most recent iso of nemesis on first post of this thread.
@brokenman:
Happy wedding.

The command
i did it at git directory today. I don't have troubles with logging as root, but when i try to login how root i receive this message
brokenman wrote:It is not finding the 'config' file on the root of the file system. Is it there?
porteus.conf does not present in /etc. Look at this screenshot
brokenman wrote:You simply ran out of storage space.
Probably you are right. I think about this. I use Porteus on 8GB flash drive with ext4 + swap.
Сhanges of Porteus are stored in sda4 ext4 partition with 10GB on the board
francois wrote:Are you working nemesis as guest in vbox?
No. I always work under the root account.
francois wrote:You are working with the iso =sr0.
I think i need to replace path to nemesis.vdi (copy nemesis.vdi to sda4) and error with no space is disappear.
brokenman, happy wedding

porteus.conf does not present in /etc. Look at this screenshot
No, no I meant the config file at: /mnt/sdXy/config/network
porteus.conf was changed to nemesis.conf but I fixed this in the git tree. Can anyone else confirm this as a bug at login?
EDIT:
Oh Blaze ... I just thought of something. Are you rebuilding the module after updating git?
You must do:
git pull
Then you must enter the build directory and run:
../git/scripts/build.sh 001

brokenman wrote:No, no I meant the config file at: /mnt/sdXy/config/network
I have network at
/mnt/sr0/config/network
/mnt/sda5/nemesis/git/x86_64/iso/config/network
brokenman wrote:Are you rebuilding the module after updating git?

Yes, i do it.
brokenman wrote:porteus.conf was changed to nemesis.conf but I fixed this in the git tree. Can anyone else confirm this as a bug at login?
I confirm again. I deleted all directories git, build and etc
and build iso again. I receive the same error with login how root.
A new ISO
nemesis-v3.1-x86_64_20151011.iso
And i try the command
Code: Select all
pacman -Syu nvidia nvidia-utils nvidia-libgl libvdpau
I receive this error
And then i run this command
i receive this error
