Judging from the search results for similar errors, it looks like a server-side failure in the mirrors. Maybe will be fixed in a couple of days or maybe pacman -Syu should be avoided while saving changes...

Maybe

pacman -Scc

followed by

pacman -Syyu

can help.

But before all that, it is worth remembering that setup-pman already updates the mirrors and the database. I don't know why it was not tried first. It is mandatory...
