Kiosk Wizard Saved Settings

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

Kiosk Wizard Saved Settings

Post#1 by max.muster » 09 Mar 2015, 11:08

Hi,
I am using the lates Porteus Kiosk 3.2.
Where can I find the following settings to make some modifications:

- Default Homepage. Since I´ve create the ISO with the wizard the default homepage has changend.
I found the pref.js on the running kiosk with the settings made, but could not find the file where this setting is stored (which file?, which module?). It seems that the pref.js file is created dynamically. In which file (binary file?) is this settings stored.

- I also could not find the proxy, http_proxy and https_proxy settings. I also would need to change these seetings.

Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thx Max

hi Max,

a) latest kiosk version is 3.3.0 so please upgrade your setup
b) kiosk settings are encrypted and only wizard can update them (security wise)

if you dont want to go through the wizard all the time then you could setup central management for kiosk:
http://porteus-kiosk.org/news.html#150202

if central management is not an option then you could remaster the ISO generated by the wizard and setup homepage, proxy env variables through /etc/rc.d/rc.local (delete original settings with sed and inject your own settings with echo to /home/guest/.mozilla/firefox/c3pp43bg.default/prefs.js and /etc/profile.d/proxy.sh)

hope that helps

Thank you for your quick answer. Just one final question.
Which firefox add-ons and extensions are included and can these add-ons and extensions be removed or disabled?
Thx, max

there are no 3rd party addons in kiosk and all solutions are developed 'in house'.

it may be tough to modify image produced by the wizard so if you need a customized build or help with modifying the image then please query me through relevant commercial services:

thank you
