Video problems with laptop + tv.

Hi everyone,

I tried to plug a TV on my laptop to see some movies in this weekend, something I did often with xfce. The thing is that my tv screen seemed to be with 1/3 of the image cut in the right margin. I believe that it was trying to use the same resolution of my laptop in the tv. I don't know why the button to switch between the screens starts to function when it is booting but right after it loads the modules it stops functioning. I tried to see if there was some settings in the KDE5 to switch between the screens or change resolution without success (is there any?) and was unable to use randr command since I was unable to detect the tv as a monitor ( so I couldn't change its resolution). I was using a VGA cable to plug the tv since my laptop wasn't detecting the tv when I plugged it through a HDMI cable. Can anyone light up a candle over this problem, please?

Thanks and regards,
