It's in the x86_64/kernel folder. Please replace vmlinuz and 000-kernel.xzm in your current ISO.
wow! :good:

BTW, is any chance to have in official 3.2 ISO LTS 4.9 version?

I wait for 3.2 version for long time so I may wait 2 weeks - without any hurriy. :)

As developers said 4.9 long-term support will be released is soonest time.

Just put this xzm module inside porteus/modules/ then reboot and pray :D Now, serious: check if Nvidia Settings opens without any error and that you can run glxgears.

Oops I did not do that part. :oops: And my wife's HP notebook booted to a blank screen without it so apparently it's using a Nvidia card.

On my netbook I have

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ uname -a
Linux porteus 4.8.8-porteus #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 15 13:00:18 BRST 2016 x86_64 AMD C-60 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
guest@porteus:~$
Will check other things tomorrow.

Good to see ISO Master is still included in Porteus. :good:

Really!! We just got off of it. I thought other countries used the clock like we do but I can see how that doesn't work in the southern hemisphere which is approaching summer as we approach winter. Interesting.

gtk-bundles fails...
solution: add gksu to gtk-bundles.desktop

Code: Select all

Exec=gksu /opt/porteus-scripts/gtk-bundles

The good news, the HP now boots with your driver mod. :good:
The bad news, the screen has a window in the upper left corner showing:

Code: Select all

Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently running
in Fallback Mode.
:wall:

-update-

When I boot without the extramod cheatcode Cinnamon boots with no error. :Yahoo!: But it doesn't recognize the HP's wifi nic.

Using Mate just made gimp 2.8.18 from source and get this message :root@porteus:~# gimp
When loading /usr/lib/babl-0.1/gggl-lies.so:
babl-format.c:444 babl_format_new()
BablFormat 'Y'CbCr u8' already registered with different content!
sh: gdb: command not found
also had to install iso-master , every time I activate a module I get a message about the loops.

Great news! I'm glad it worked and hope that the problem with wifi isn't related to Nvidia driver :) Maybe you could test with XFCE just to make sure.

I'll try to make a x86 version of the driver and let them both available :good:

Hmmmm... I see. Just to make sure: you're using the new 4.8.8 kernel, right? Because this driver was compiled to the new kernel and won't work with anything different.

And besides 07-printing.xzm I don't think any other module you're using can do any harm. Maybe this driver doesn't fit your Nvidia card model :(

Maybe. I just reverted to the prior print module version on my netbook. I will do the same for testing the notebook.

-update-

Tried it with the prior print module and with no print module same result.

From the run of a prior version of Porteus:

@ Ed_P
Do you need Nvidia driver with Cinnamon? Need it for KDE, but Nouveau seems to cope quite well with Cinnamon. BTW no problem running the 4.8.8 kernel with Nvidia card. In fact first time had typo and kernel ran with 000-kernel.xzm for 4.8.7 kernel 8)

Solved theediting of Desktop files: from Ubuntu forum

Go to the directory ~/.config/caja/scripts/
Create an empty document, name it Open-with-Pluma

Open the document and enter the following two lines:

#!/bin/sh
pluma $CAJA_SCRIPT_SELECTED_URIS
Save & close the document and mark as executable
Log out and log in again

Now you should see an extra item called Scripts in the context menu (right-click menu). There you will find this Open-with-Pluma option which should be working as expected.

Also after I activate a module I get this message : Device /dev/loop50 is already mounted at `/mnt/live/memory/images/gslapt-0.5.4c-i386-1.xzm'. BTW it is the first time I installed it.

Ed_P, OK, I've figured out: you should install 340.xx version. Here's a xzm for you to test (it's working on my girlfriend's Vaio laptop): http://www.mediafire.com/file/2rjy5pex5 ... x86_64.xzm

Sorry for this endless testing loop, but I think we're close to find the final solution :)

brokenman, I've seen something weird (again, hahaha) when testing Porteus on my girlfriend's laptop. During the boot (just after the splash menu asking for Always Fresh, Text Mode, etc) the character / is typed in a kind of endless loop until you press any key. What's even stranger is that if you don't press any key, this / character breaks the boot process, so you have to press something in order to finish the boot process and having GUI loaded.

Yes. Quite bizarre. I would wager a guess that it is something wrong with her laptop.
