I haven't pushed rc5 yet. I am still having trouble with two bugs which I can't seem to reproduce.

1) Vanishing wallpaper
2) VLC crashing

I will probably push the last rc release next weekend and freeze the base for good. Then comes the final release. Whatever bugs still exist can be squashed and pushed via the new update system (unlocked in rc5). Next is the language pack support and I can release final.

In gparted you can use f2fs format option but mounting is not supported.

I have suggestion to add LXTask - Task Manager (Lightweight task manager / system monitor) from LXDE to each desktop environments, that we have at Porteus 3.2 (Cinnamon, Xfce, MATE, and probably KDE)
Image
Image

Download lxtask_x86.tar.bz2 | lxtask_x86_64.tar.bz2

Also I think that this command is need to be executed (it seems fix my trouble with PulseAudio with root account - as root I mean this trouble: pulseaudio not working : “Home directory not accessible: Permission denied”)

Code: Select all

xdg-user-dirs-update
for generate

Code: Select all

user-dirs.dirs
user-dirs.locale
in the ~/.config
and these files need to be included by default in the ~/.config for guest and root accounts.

I'm in xfce4 right now and it has its own task manager. I'm sure the others do too.

brokenman, cinnamon uses gnome-system-monitor and he is absent in Porteus and can be replaced on lightweight LXTask. About others Desktop environments I don't know...

In reference to my previous complaints about icons vanishing in 3.2rc4 XFCE, it seems to have been a problem with my libreoffice module; when first activated from the GUI, the Faenza icons appear and libreoffice subsequently works as an automatically loaded module. Kodi (requiring python) seems to work fine and I even succeeded in booting Porteus directly from Refind on my Kangaroo; Porteus loads much faster than Windows. I get well over a dozen messages about failing to allocate memory as the GUI loads, but everything seems to be in order when it comes up.

Thanks Blaze. Added lxtask to cinnamon.

Great to hear rchase. I bought me a intel compute stick whilst overseas. My next project is to get Porteus onto it.

Porteus 3.2rc4, new 001,002 and 003-mate xzms.
Apps that use alsa for output don't work, although alsa is configured to redirect to pulseaudio, alsa-plugins are absent, so no pulseaudio plugin.

/usr/bin/ffmpegthumbnailer depends on an older ffmpeg version (libav*.so.56.* and the likes)

Qt4 is missing, required by a few apps in the devel xzm like cmaje-gui and automoc4.

And some missing icons that I'll upload when I get home, away from laptop right now.

Thanks lordvortex.

I recompiled ffmpegthumbnailer and added alsa-plugins.
