My problem was solved by entering: about:config into the firefox address bar and changing the config: gfx.xrender.enabled to true

I still can't get the wallpaper to disappear though. Please try an older version of firefox and see if it still happens.

Cinnamon x86_64

1. I think need to disable Blueman applet by deffault at the startup applications of Cinnamon
Image

2. For save free space need to remove Paper theme from /usr/share/themes/Paper

Code: Select all

rm -rf /usr/share/themes/Paper
Linux 6.6.11-porteus #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Jan 14 12:07:37 MSK 2024 x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Interesting. That option is enabled in FireFox ESR 45.1.1 in Porteus 3.0 and is a default.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ ls /mnt/sda5/porteus3.0/Modules/*fire*.*
/mnt/sda5/porteus3.0/Modules/04-firefox.xzm*
/mnt/sda5/porteus3.0/Modules/mozilla-firefox-45.1.1esr-x86_64-1gv.xzm*
guest@porteus:~$ ls /mnt/sda5/porteus3.2/Modules/*fire*.*
/mnt/sda5/porteus3.2/Modules/firefox-47.0b9-x86_64-1.xyzm*
/mnt/sda5/porteus3.2/Modules/firefox-48.0b6-x86_64-1.xzm*

@alexgorr
It's no big deal. I think people are just saying that it is nice to keep the forum tidy by putting large amounts of text (like error reports or code) in code brackets so that it becomes scrollable and doesn't use a lot of space.

@Ed_P
Do you experience the problem (laggines and CPU spikes) in the ESR version?

As for the wallpaper vanishing problem, I still can't reproduce this.

@Blaze
I changed to the Paper icon theme as it is svg and compresses well compared to the Faenza icon set which does not compress.

It's good, but mean this - I propose to remove the Paper theme from /usr/share/themes/Paper and Paper icons set (/usr/share/icons/Paper) is leave.

brokenman, please check cheat code login=root at the Cinnamon (pulseaudio and poweroff, restart Cinnamon).

brokenman, please check cheat code login=root at the Cinnamon (pulseaudio and poweroff, restart Cinnamon).
Checked and working ok. You can download the latest modules in the testing/rc4 folder. Uploading cinnamon now.

Be aware you will need to boot into text mode. Login as root. Run:

Code: Select all

cache-module
slim
