@Rava
Thanks. Dvorak thing has been reported. I will fix this.

I can add mtpaint but not geany (you can easily add this module, I do). Geany is designed as an Integrated Development Environment for development and while you and I probably use it every day, the average user is probably not going to use this. Mousepad or mcedit will do for text editing and if a user wants real text editing then they can include the office or abiword package.

xfce 32-bit

PDFviewer 0.1.8 is not displaying the larger pictures that are in .pdf documents. Small pictures do display.

Correction:
PDFviewer is not displaying any pictures that are in .pdf documents

LXQt 64-bit

Closed lid, went to bed, morning opened lid to a dark dark blue screen. No activity brought it back, keypad, F keys, etc. Was in AF mode when lid closed. 2nd time it's happened. The netbook was plugged in.

@Ed_P
if it works sometimes but not always then it may be a kernel bug and we cant do much about it (only hope it will be fixed upstream).
does it happen sometimes or always?

@fanthom

It's happened at least twice but I'm not sure the 1st time was in AF mode.

In closing the lid for just an hr or so it did not happen this time. :unknown:

Closed lid for about 2 hrs, not plugged in. Opened lid, screen dark, not dark blue. And again nothing activates the system. Powered off than back on and booted to 3.0.1. RazorQt shows battery to be at 62%.

-edit-

I wonder if this is a broken screen saver problem. Rather than a power problem. The lid is closed, there is no user activity, the screen save kicks in, the lid is eventually opened and the screen saver doesn't let go. Or the keyboard doesn't wake up.

With 3.0.1 it's normal to open the lid and see a screen saver on the screen. But clicking anything turns it off.

XFCe dark theme / terminal tab issue. (Due to the forum restriction of 700px width per image, I cropped the below images on their far right side to have them no larger than 700px...)

In 3.0 and 3.0.1, I used Settings/Appearance
ThemeName "Xfce-dusk"
IconThemeName "MeliaeSVG-Dark"
And here is how the tabs of XFCe's termainal look like:
Image
As you can see, I try to use a very dark theme, dark background and light text.

In 3.1rc1 these are no longer there. So I used these instead:
ThemeName "MediterraneanDarkest"
IconThemeName "Faenza-Dark"
And here is how the tabs look like:
Image

To me, that means I can hardly guess where the other tabs but the recent are, and hardly distinguish how many tabs there are at all. Only the active one is readable, all others are just too dark on dark... (It should be, like with 3.0 and 3.0.1, dark background but light text)

The above is not the case for PaleMoon, it's tabs are just readable fine... so I wonder, is that a XFCe terminal issue, or an XFCe Theme settings issue?
(I cannot recall any other tab issues with other programs but XFCe's terminal, then again, I have not tries bunch of programs just to see if they work fine or not, tab-readability-wise. Please tell me if there are some I should check out as well and report back here if the tabs work OK like with PaleMooin, or work as weird as with XFCe's Terminal as the images above demonstrate...)
Cheers!
Yours Rava

@Ed_P
please install xscreensaver, configure it to start after 5 mins of inactivity and check if that resolves this issue.

thanks

@Rava
Thanks. Comment out line 909 in /usr/share/themes/MediterraneanDarkest/gtk-2.0/gtkrc which is pertinent to xfce4-terminal.

#include "apps/terminal.rc"

I've included a patch for rc2.

Can you please supply a sample file for me to test?

Also can a Frenchman and a German please check the keyboard layout in xfce and let me know which keyboard layout is relevant? Thanks.

Ok, running LXQt AF mode.

Start USM gui.
USM message indicating I have no database files.
Updates>Update USM confirms that I have the 3.1.7 version.
Updates>Update all displays a msg that there is a USM update available (!!!) then updates all the databases.
I shutdown USM and restart it.
I enter xscreensaver and search for it. Two hits are found, I select the top one to download.
After downloading a msg asks if I want to open the folder where the download is, I reply yes and wait 5 mins. No window opens. :-(
I close USM and I open the /tmp/usm folder and activate the xscreensaver xzm file.
I open the screensaver function, set the time for 5 mins, close the lid, and go aways for a couple of hours.
I return, open the lid, there is no screensaver running and the desktop is displayed.
But the machine is very warm on the bottom. Apparently it has been running the whole time the lid was closed.

@brokenman
in my case it's German (basic) in xfce-keyboard-layout.
Some other OS call it DE-latin-1.

LXQt 32-bit and xfce 32-bit

Further to my previous report that xarchiver cannot extract 7z archives, nor open .iso files, by comparison to LXDE 3.0.1 32-bit:

In /usr/bin the shell script 7za is missing.

In /usr/lib/p7zip 7z is now a sym link to 7zr (used to sym link to 7za).
And the following files are missing:
7z.so, 7za, 7zCon.sfx and /codecs/Rar29.so

Thanks Donald. xfce4-keyboard-settings doesn't have a German (basic) so is German (qwerty) suitable?

Francois or Hamza can you have a look and let me know what is suitable for french?

Philip download the full p7zip via USM and things should work.

Ed_P thanks. I didn't foresee that the file manager wold be pcmanfm-qt so have added this to USM for rc2.
I booted to lxqt and followed your steps but didn't get the warning that there is a USM update available when doing 'update all' but I do remember seeing it once a while back.
