I appreciate your efforts!
Just wondering if there's a chance of only e-book reader version coming out, Calibre preferably as the reader... I have an ages-old m/c sitting idly. May be a light pdf reader is to beincluded.....Should scan the usb drive for ebooks and nothing else.
An Ebook only version?

Re: An Ebook only version?
Welcome, tadatma!
It looks like Calibre exists as a package already for Slackware, so it probably would not be difficult to implement something along these lines for use on i486 and x86_64 intel compatible systems (the architectures for which Porteus is already released). That said, is your proposal regarding e-book devices, like the kindle and nook? Most of those use ARM-based processors which are more difficult for us to develop on (There is no BIOS, sometimes the bootloaders are locked, and each device requires a custom kernel). I'm not familiar with what you mean by "m/c" (please pardon my ignorance!), can you give us some more details on what kind of device that is?

Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!
Re: An Ebook only version?
Oh! I was looking for a e-book reader mode only on my 800mhz thinkpad (overly outdated) m/c. But I came to know from your reply that porteus is available as of now for the 486..and not for 386 m/c. Thanks for the info. Good day.
