low ressource computer: your setup to maximize your box

@francois

Things move so quickly in this world of computers, and so that we are on the same page it would be interesting to know what you consider a low resource computer. What is your definition of a low resource computer?

Upgrade Porteus flash drive from 3.1 to 3.2?

One way of doing this is to find the 3.2.2 iso you are interested in, and download it. Then try this: Simple USB Flash Installer.

Porteus Save Changes vs Porteus Save Session

Welcome to Porteus. I myself save neither session nor changes, but surely someone like Ed_P very much dependent on this option would be more qualified to comment here.

Downloading Ubuntu from Windoze Store proved quite an experience. Tablet on battery power at hotspot downloaded 40% of file, then download crashed. Tablet nodding off seemed to be cause, and even when set to not terminate internet connection while sleeping. Managed to activate wlan on my router, and...

Advise Tablet

Tried to see if could boot cinnamon on surface pro. Cinnamon screen came up, but no go with pointer (to be expected). Also keyboard combination for console did not work. After a while surface went to sleep, but could not be woken up, just a black screen. Thought Porteus had clobbered the bios. Repai...

Maybe palemoon should be provided stock.
Shouldn't be a problem, as there is now a slackware PM package. Only fiddling required would be with regard to setting up duckduckgo parameter. :)

:) Everything runs perfectly for me except the occasional usm errors. I just keep a backup set of lists, drop them into place and update later. Welcome to Porteus. Please do report usm errors here: USM bug reports , so that the Porteus experience can be made a smoother one. :) Or if it is the usm up...

USM bug reports

I would not call this a USM bug. It was (it's working now) clearly the server who delivered a wrong/corrupted file and because of rsync every up to date server would have the same. One would think so, but I"ve had this more than 2 weeks running: root@porteus:/home/guest# time usm -u all Starting sl...
