New Slax is Coming !

@francois I tried the beta, it was too plain did not have anything good, no dc, no bc, no good/useful commands from terminal. The nemesis based (Arch) Porteus as well I did not like either. Lacked any useful apps, and also has pile of manure called * :(. But I did not want to give it thumbs down, be...

New Slax is Coming !

The new Slax 9.3.0 and the one previous which did not have wireless leaves much to be desired. IMHO the old Slax and Porteus are many times better and have more out of the plain iso than Slax. I understand the time issues, packaging, recompiling which Tomas expresses why he made the change to Debian...

Syria 2017...

@Francois Looks like they are expanding aside from Afghanistan. They are also in Philipines. https://m.journal-neo.org/2017/08/11/facing-defeat-in-syria-isis-inexplicably-expands-globally/ This has never been seen before. And then there is another problem between India and China, who knows what will...

Re: latex word-text processor: what you know about it

You would say the same about kertex? Actually, no. KerTeX is smaller and one can typeset many beautiful documents.; but TeXLive has more support. These TeX systems are great and can produce great documents. However, they are not designed/created to replace a word processor. I use both systems on my...

I read everything you post , i just don't necessarily understand it because i'm an idiot. :wink: :D Don't worry about your difficulties in mathematics, I can assure you mine are greater. $ sed -e 's/Mathematics/Linux/g' In the eyes of God we are equally smart, equally stupid. Re: latex word-text processor: what you know about it

Latex is a document preparation system. It is not a word processor. For a word processing feel, theres LyX. It is a WYSIWYM(what you see is what you mean). Reports, books, letters, posters, there are many you can do with LaTEX. I really like LaTeX and plain TeX, but to use this insted of Libreoffice...

@Francois
A 2003 study is good, but I feel it is much worse than that :( The insurance companies push that number higher than it really is. Your countries health care system is better than ours, but what impresses me more is Cuba's.

Re: Syria 2017...

/* And it took 700 years for Spain to rid themselves of the Moors that ruled Spain for a great while. NOTE: They were great architects, doctors, and inventors of Algebra. They brought many great things also. They[refugees] appear to have no love for country, as they would rather beg for asylum. Some...

Re: From almost no privacy to private information to be sold

Beijing has rejected President Obama's criticism of its plan to make tech companies put backdoors in their software and share their encryption keys if they want to operate in China. Funny the USA complaining when other World powers want backdoors in Software. But when the NSA or anyone of 5eyes wan...

Re: Syria 2017...

No its okay. I agree that the reason has been the Otoman empire and after that the French and British. For some reason you almost never hear politicians of these three countries [●] taking the responsibility for their own greed from the past and the willingness to now change hundred years of wrong....

Re: What would you use if Porteus was not available?

@Tonio, I see that you explained what's happening, but my question was about why it happens, especially considering how Windows works (does any one know about MacOS X?). You have asked a great question! Say you are running kernel 4.9.26, but all of a sudden you get a newer kernel 4.9.27. It is a ne...
