porteus kernel on ubuntu system, an easy task?

@bogomips:
I thought that the porteus kernel on ubuntu would improve speed. But I realize that booting takes 7 seconds and shutdown about 11 seconds. The exercice seems to be futile.

@beny:
Nemesis is such an hybrid. Isn't it? There seems to be no threads on the subject.

Scanning and recognition documents

Welcome to porteus Carine. :)
Please provide the brand and the model of your scanner. Have you achieved a normal functioning under other other operating systems? Are you using porteus desktop or kiosk?

Poll: What's your (other) favorite distro(s)?

With elementary os the experience is positive for the pasture, however good luck when you have a problem and get into ctrl-d mode. :(

porteus kernel on ubuntu system, an easy task?

For those of you kernel junkies or kernel informed users: would it be possible to install the porteus kernel on the ubuntu distribution to speedup the animal? More peculiarly I would be interested in a EOS (unbuntu based) /porteus (kernel) hybrid. Thanks. This threads seems to say that it would be p...

porteus modules behavior: size and speed of decompression

I am aware that there has been some testing on that in the past. Or maybe you have some experience or some way to measure it. Do you have some data on the size of modules and the time needed to decompress at bootup.

I am looking toward the ideal size to speed decompression module.

Thanks.

Poll: What's your (other) favorite distro(s)?

Personnally, I like Elementary OS for the look and the fact that it is ubuntu based. A big package pasture. However, I would like it to be as reactive as maniable and flexible as porteus.

I thought that network-manager was already in the base modules! With plasma-nm works fine. Thanks. Autologin works for root mode. I begin to have a satisfactory installation. I might take some time to try to reduce the modules with brokenman building scripts which are a mystery to me. However, my ac...

Autologin works in guest mode. Not tested for root mode. Thanks. I am unable to get the nm-applet in the kde panel. nmapplet with openrc is of no use: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/NetworkManager#OpenRC Quicklaunch is no more available in widgets. Maybe, I should report to kde directly. All you have ...
