Kernel 4.13.5 Porteus

Needs attention. Going back to v4.10.8. This should really be taken care of by updating your bios. Intel releases microcode updates directly. I will enable the feature in the kernel and use the intel-microcode upload method for those that can't update. I have also problem - activating devel module ...

wget

Just for variation.

Code: Select all

for a in $(lynx -dump --listonly --nonumbers http://brokenman.porteus.org/current/x86_64/custom | egrep "txz|tgz|xzm"); do
  wget $a
done
Burdi01's line above should also do it nicely.

Thanks abelM,

I've finished updating busybox to the latest version so your edits should now work in initrd.xz. Nice fix.

Install applications from source

Yes Porteus can certainly be installed to the flash memory. Xastir also runs fine. Be sure to install activate the devel module for your version of Porteus and then install motif before compiling Xastir-2.0.9. I compiled it on cinnamon desktop no problems. http://www.mediafire.com/view/kozgljd6lq926...

cleanup script copy update

Indeed, the cp run from linuxrc during shutdown is compiled into busybox which doesn't support the -u argument. I'll look at updating busybox. Thanks, I initially didn't pick up the error.

I sure hope the 4 build procedure is not as monolitic as the 3 one was.
I'm not sure what you mean by monolithic but the new one is not much different. Just updated. Perhaps not what your looking for. I will send a PM with a link to the build scripts.

samba ->>> get it out of 002-xorg

So, not much discussion on this so far. I will leave samba in 002 for now. Falcony, you can remove it with two or three lines of code.

Running script upon module activation SYSTEMD

Has the DEV TEAM considered adopting any method to allow the use of these packages? We have a similar concept with 'bundles'. They are simply modules that contain all dependencies for a given desktop environment. They still suffer the same disadvantages as above but the advantage is an app that wor...
