Great work. I will implement the change here and put it to the test.

a question about whiteouts and persistence

Great to see empirical testing! The results should be expected. Here's a scenario ...

What would happen if you left the whiteout file in place for useless.txt, then unpacked 001 module and placed the same file there, then rebooted.

Buying new Hardware - need help selecting equipment that will work with Porteus

In the case of the kiosk version I believe every time the session is ended the memory is restored and the profile directory is cleaned so it would take a looong session to eat up your ram. The desktop version should also support these out of the box. If there are any problems we can work through the...

New Slax is Comming !

I have done something wrong, haven't I ? Not at all! I also used systemd in one of the nemesis spinoffs. He is talking about the problem with shutdown and unmounting. If you have solved this problem, then the init/shutdown system is not important. BTW, I believe the new slax DOES use systemd. He ch...

Location of the splash screen

I think skyvolt means where the place is on earth, not the file path.

New Slax is Comming !

Congratulations Tomas M! You did a great job in setting up a lightweight debian based live distro. I'm sure many people will love it. It allows one to get up and running and onto the net quickly which is what the majority of people want these days.

a question about whiteouts and persistence

Do whiteouts have any function in the same branch where files are deleted?
No. It is a function of how whiteouts work, but in the same branch they would serve no real purpose except to hide underlying filesystem duplicates.

Kernel 4.13.5 Porteus

Does it mean that now I can't replace Porteus 3.2.2 kernel with kernel from Porteus 4.0.0?
I would upgrade the base modules also.

The Problems of the "Bleeding Edge"

Of all the distros I've known, slackware has the most stable bleeding edge. I have followed the current version now for some years constantly updating and not once found a serious problem after an update. The slackware devs seem to have their feet firmly planted on the ground.

porteus.org website

Thanks for the comments. Yes help is most certainly needed. Some time ago the social networks were left to users to take care of but they fell to the wayside. I personally don't have time to maintain the website so anybody looking to help out by creating a newer fresher web presence would most certa...

Kernel 4.13.5 Porteus

Needs attention. Going back to v4.10.8. This should really be taken care of by updating your bios. Intel releases microcode updates directly. I will enable the feature in the kernel and use the intel-microcode upload method for those that can't update. I have also problem - activating devel module ...
