ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus

Neko, I am in love with your Aporteus offering, "Budgie". Gnome 3.24.2 looks very neat and aesthetically appealing for me and your collection of applications are satisfying. I am going to keep this OS, along with Porteus 3.2 and Windows 10. The amount of work you are putting in ,is beyond my imagina...

ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus

1)Kernel 4.12.7 32 bit with own patch sleep.c has not resolved the existing shutdown and reboot problem in Kernel versions above 4.7 in my old Laptop. 2)Suppose you boot the machine with vmlinuz 4.11.0, but with modules generated in kernel say 4.12.7, boot process is okay. Since drivers in 4.12.7 do...

oh, I forgot, Budgie with Kernel 4.12.8 shuts down and reboots in that machine , but whether it goes for sleep after 15 min is yet to be tested.. When stuck, now, I follow Arch's suggestion to use "System Request" key. Follow, R,E,I,S,U,B or O key in combination with alt plus sysrq keys. https://wik...

Neko, You have been updating Kernels regularly. Do you have page where changes incorporated from one to another version are recorded. Shut down/reboot problems surfaced in 2016, some said it is due to changes made in Kernel, some said it may be due to Systemd. Kernel version has reached 4.13, still ...

Neko, Deepin Desktop is one idea which is fresh and attractive among thousands of distributions with not much to differentiate. You must get back to Aporteus with Deepin DDE and gladden people like me . Backdoors even if present will be only for tracing Political opponents(anti Red) and we need not ...

Problems in booting v3.2.2 32 bit in old Laptop

Finally. I managed to boot v3.2.2 - 32 bit in this Laptop. The trouble was with X. org's strange ways. In fact, 83% of the people that were said to be using the VESA driver were using either Intel, NVIDIA, or ATI/AMD hardware! The other 17% were using SiS / XGI, VIA, Matrox, or something else. When ...

LXDE for Porteus 3.2.2

But,I keep trying to boot my machine running on v3.1-32 bit with v3.2.2-32bit , by experimenting with additions/deletions,once a while. Yesterday, with your LXDE module, I could boot into the desktop. Now,you have confirmed, default is English, I shall look into 002-Xorg module and fix that.
Thanks.

Re: deadbeef-0.7.2

Donald, Good news is Deadbeef -0.7.2.2 is running just now in Porteus v3.1. I went through program update history and found GTK UI was a problem and fixes were made. May be you complied with only 'GTK 3" support for GUI. The program is made to be compatible with older versions of GTK. I got the stat...

Re: What would you use if Porteus was not available?

I was using Ubuntu 12.04 with Kernel 2.6 from 2012. A perfect replacement for Windows users, in old machines. As Evan says, update, adding new programs are a breeze. It was running beautifully. I took out the old 16 GB Pen Drive( Ubuntu 12.04) y'day, laying idle for few years and booted this Laptop. P...

Re: deadbeef-0.7.2

Donald Deadbeef is listed in menu. GUI is missing in V3.1-XFCE. Terminal indicated all libraries are there and starting db 0.7.2. Nothing happens. Play command repeats the message, 'starting db-0.7.2'. Not playing the source song. Stop, quit commands also are not working. Help says, default GUI is GT...
