Porteus-4.0 is in the pipeline.

What can we expect? A silent,quiet boot up, with exploding words "Fast and Furious"; "This is Porteus for You" in a deep Blue background and a " See You" message during shutdown; Logs for Porteus error messages during boot and shutdown process; A separate base module for all applications; An animate...

Fulalas, I don't think so. Video driver from Xorg and Mesa must be playing a part. In Porteus 3.1, my old Laptop used to play full HD videos without any problem. In 3.2.2, after a long struggle ,I located a correct openchrome driver and there also both Gnome Player and MPV used to play videos effort...

002-xorg -> Xorg 1.19.3 + Mesa 17.1.0 + plugins

As I said earlier,somewhere here, a very modern Laptop with 7th generation Kaby Lake processor and DDR4 memory with very high bandwidth, could not render Full HD videos, where as my old Laptop even while running Porteus 3.1 with openchrome video driver, used to play Full HD videos flawlessly. The vi...

LXDE for Porteus 3.2.2 x86_64

P7 zip not opening and build XZM module script throwing error message. LXDE probably does not have power manager for altering settings, but screen does power off after 15 min inactivity.

Please do not mind piece meal reports. I shall report as and when I come across .

002-xorg -> Xorg 1.19.3 + Mesa 17.1.0 + plugins

Tried with LXDE desk top.Boots without showing any error messages. But no mouse or keyboard inputs are available. I have seen this Xorg behaviour when you unpack 002 and do some additions/deletions.

Any solution please?

LXDE for Porteus 3.2.2 x86_64

I was using XFCE in both 32 and 64 bit versions. In 64 bit , I used to get at least two pages of error messages, like " parsing errors" and many other listings during "shut down". I ignored them since the machine shuts down eventually. When I tried with jssouza's "LXDE", the machine shut down quietl...

002-xorg -> Xorg 1.19.3 + Mesa 17.1.0 + plugins

I tried this module once long back, it threw up many errors, and did not boot up to the desktop.

Any one else is using this module in Porteus 3.2.2,64 bit, original installation without any additions/modifications? I would like to try again on confirmation.

Thanks.

Neko, I am in love with your Aporteus offering, "Budgie". Gnome 3.24.2 looks very neat and aesthetically appealing for me and your collection of applications are satisfying. I am going to keep this OS, along with Porteus 3.2 and Windows 10. The amount of work you are putting in ,is beyond my imagina...

1)Kernel 4.12.7 32 bit with own patch sleep.c has not resolved the existing shutdown and reboot problem in Kernel versions above 4.7 in my old Laptop. 2)Suppose you boot the machine with vmlinuz 4.11.0, but with modules generated in kernel say 4.12.7, boot process is okay. Since drivers in 4.12.7 do...

oh, I forgot, Budgie with Kernel 4.12.8 shuts down and reboots in that machine , but whether it goes for sleep after 15 min is yet to be tested.. When stuck, now, I follow Arch's suggestion to use "System Request" key. Follow, R,E,I,S,U,B or O key in combination with alt plus sysrq keys. https://wik...
