Porteus-4.0 is in the pipeline.

A " Toolchain " upgrade for 05-toolchain (05-devel) w/ depfinder and python (it would require tcl/tk).

Plus...Dragonegg (LLVM backend for GCC) would be badass! B)

@ wread... looks like I'm back in the PekWM camp. Compiz has Gtk+2 dependencies so EDE is moot. Better to use PekWM exclusively w/out a DE. Also... Tint2 is a dealbreaker. Depfinder (@ http://depfinder.sourceforge.net/ ) shows it has Gtk+2 dependency. I'll probably use Bar (by Lemonboy). My version ...

[not4noobs] ...Adventures In Remastering DE's

The key to persistent "DE" remastering (ie... "AnyPorteusDE" .iso) regardless of /base/003-"DE".xzm is creating/editing a... /porteus/base/06-bundle4(anyDE).xzm or... /porteus/modules/bundle4(anyDE).xzm or... /porteus/optional/bundle4(anyDE).xzm (this method can be used for multiple DE's after editi...

What's your favorite file manager?

Nice... it's encouraging to see any and all attempts to minimize Gtk/Qt bloat. Unfortunately... I'm now in the EDE/Compiz-Reloaded camp (same goal plus eyecandy). The key to persistent "DE" remastering in that camp regardless of 003-"DE".xzm using either (w/ any "Porteus" .iso) /porteus/base/06-bund...

Poll: What's your (other) favorite distro(s)?

Alpine Linux because it's a hardened security oriented distro.

And since it's based on musl/busybox along with the baked in security
plus run-from-ram you get high performance and low resource usage.

What's your favorite file manager?

:Yahoo!: I just love a simple PekWM desktop (plus "extras"... not DE) without EDE. It's the perfect compliment to XfeFM. WM + FM (w/ text editor + image viewer) = badass!!! I have a confession to make. All this time I have been endorsing EDE but the truth is I'm just lazy. I just didn't want to both...

Xfe + PekWM = :good:

I just made a build of Xfe/PekWM (w/o EDE).
Even without using copy2ram it's awesome!

Now that I figured out the PekWM configuration...
(yes I'm doing WM + extras) I can do hardening.

Seriously or "FUD"?

@ donald you are so correct...

Intel has avoided ME on enterprise offerings.
Perhaps... mission critical OEM's rejected it.

M$$$ + Intel (buggery) = greed ( Feature creep + Planned obsolescence )

ARM (no buggery) + GNU/GPL + Libreboot/Coreboot = freedom
Let's join the resistance! =@
