Re: I don't understand...

Where are you finding these cheatcodes?? :Search: BOOT_IMAGE is automatic porteus thing. I don't add that. libata.force is parameter to modify libata module action. All kernel have it. I need to do same as OP and search for way. Probably found it on superuser board or something. Google is good frie...

Re: I don't understand...

Very much doubt there is any defence against a determined virus, without going to extraordinary lengths to prevent it. Maybe you can reach a level of security if you are able to disable the HDD from the BIOS. When HDD disable in BIOS. I think PC just turn off for boot & DOS, but linux still see it....

Re: update-firefox suggestion

Yes, I like this too. Install latest stable version, maybe: update-firefox stable Even better, auto activate xzm and clean up afterl. (ie. Delete txz file to reduce RAM.) Same for update-flash also. The way I use Porteus, PC has no drive in him. Just boot copy2ram, connect wireless, and use web, wit...

Re: printing-3.2 for porteus 3.2

pauleus the address should be: http://localhost:631/admin EDIT: So first make sure you have /dev/lp0 and cups is started. chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups* /etc/rc.d/rc.cups* start Then navigate to: http://localhost:631/admin in a browser Yes, this is better! I get Add Printer in there now, but no LPT1 t...

Re: printing-3.2 for porteus 3.2

@Blaze Thank you for that, however everywhere has different way to do it. Today I download and try SalixLive 14.2 XFCE. After modprobe lp, Salix has "Manage Printers" which opens firefox to localhost:631. There I configure LPT1: and print fine. In Porteus I get "Not Found" on connect to that. So, no...

Re: printing-3.2 for porteus 3.2

@brokenman I boot again and lp module not loaded, /dev/lp0 not there. So, modprobe lp from console and lp loads, /dev/lp0 created. Good. I don't know why it's not automatic. Then, usm -g cups and check backends in /usr/lib/cups/backend but parallel is not there. It was before but not now. So, downlo...

Re: printing-3.2 for porteus 3.2

FYI - I happen to have Ubuntu Mate 15.10 on USB so I try that, works perfect.
Trouble seems to be that Porteus kernel not give me /dev/lp0 on this machine.
Rest of v3.2 works very nice for me. Great job!

Hi - I try to use printing by download and activate module. root@porteus:~# system-config-printer Print Settings - localhost Printing service not available. Start the service on this computer or connect to another server. Start service button is greyed. I can't find cupsd on the system. root@porteus...
