kde 5 plasma: kdenlive and video editing tweaking

<RANT> The thing with Porteus is that the question to "maintain the kde plasma desktop" in fact means, "download the hard work by alienbob and create Porteus modules out of it without giving credit". I used to be a fan of porteus but it really saddens me to see how people hack together modules from ...

Chromium and Flashplayer

You are making it hard while it is in fact easy. If you took my chromium package (the "00-default.conf " is the proof of that) and made a Porteus module of it, you should also grab my "chromium-pepperflash-plugin" package and make a Porteus module out of that. The pliugin package installs a file "/e...

Re: Porteus with gnome 3.22 ?

If you just want to try Dlackware and systemd (as opposed to adding it to a Porteus ISO), you can download the Dlackware edition of Slackware Live here: http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/slackware-live/latest/slackware64-live-dlack-current.iso It is based on a Slackware64-current version of end Janua...

Re: Alien Bob slackware minimalist live version

The "(loop)/boot/generic" syntax is internal to GRUB. There is a whole lot of code in GRUB to support this kind of simplification of pointing to a file on a disk. GRUB will therefore retrieve the kernel and the initrd without any problem using this (loop) syntax but once GRUB loads and executes the ...

..and if you are adventurous, you can checkout liveslak from git, and generate an ISO yourself that should have NTFS support, with this commit: http://bear.alienbase.nl/cgit/liveslak/ ... 74ad3f7ec4

Re: Alien Bob slackware minimalist live version

Could be a bug. I never actually booted an ISO file this way myself, it was implemented at someone's request. There is a debug option in the live init that you can use to troubleshoot your issue. You don't happen to know the command to enable that option do you? Sure, taken from the init script: Se...

Re: Alien Bob slackware minimalist live version

Ok, after a 3 1/2 hr download I've gotten this far trying to boot the cinnamon iso: SLACKWARELIVE: Live media found at /dev/sda5. SLACKWARELIVE: However, live media not mounted... trouble ahead. From reading some of the txt & cfg files in the iso I have these grub2 parms: set isopath='/Users/Ed/Dow...

Re: Alien Bob slackware minimalist live version

Well yes of course it is bigger. My Slackware Live does not share the goals of Porteus (make the ISO as small as possible). I have no interest in space savers and package rebuilds. With my Live ISO you get a complete unmodified Slackware. In case of the Cinnamon ISO, KDE4 was replaced with Cinnamon...

Re: 3.2rc5 and Chromium

My chromium packages DO NOT depend on avahi. If you get an error about missing libavahi then this is caused by a Slackware library which is needed by chromium and which you replaced with a 3rd-party precompiled version which DOES depend on avahi.
I'd suggest checking your system.

Why do you think Microsoft owns Qt? What parts of Qt do you think are not opensource?

Re: Building Blocks

for me Slackware's live script is lacking many critical things: no copy2ram (and AlienBob stated that he's not interested in this feature) A 'toram' boot option has been added in the liveslak-0.5.0 release which will be published this weekend. Note that this is useless (IMHO) when you boot anything...

Re: Alien Bob slackware minimalist live version

I am not creating a "minimalist live version" of Slackware. Main target is the full Slackware64-current version converted to a 2.2 GB Slackware Live Edition. The script I wrote is also able to create a Live Edition of Slackware64-current with Plasma5 instead of KDE4 (2.5 GB). It also produces a mini...
