[SOLVED] Misterious wifi issue

Hi jssouza Personally i don't use the 5GHz band because the signal penetrates walls badly Thnaks donald, yes, it does have lower penetration capabilities than that of 2.4GHz (because of the lower wavelength). But, I think we can over come that with a directional antenna with a higher EIRP, what do ...

[SOLVED] Misterious wifi issue

Thanks donald, but 5GHz is much much more complex.

UNII3 in EU is 25mhz (ISM) band, while unii3 in US is 4 Watts (according to latest FCC)..

That would mean, Wlan channels 149 to 165 have a transmission power of 25mhz in the EU, but it has a transmission power of 4W in the US. Do you agree?

Afterthought: Maybe the same lspci command on the working ubuntu might also help, to see if there is a...

but if I want to change guest name? Unfortunately, there are internal scripts and configurations that hardcode the default non-root username as guest. Congratulations! :good:

You can login as root using the cheatcode login=root. You will have to add this in the porteus boot menu entry in EFI/BOOT/refind.conf file. Search the forum for similar threads if you need more help on this.

On a Mac Book Pro this is how I boot from an external FAT32 USB stick: - Extract the 64 bit porteus ISO onto the USB. There should be 3 folders - boot, EFI and porteus. - With the USB connected, power on the MAC while press and holding the left "alt" key. - You should get a boot menu showing "Macint...

LXDE for Porteus 3.2.2

No language selection cheat code needed. It should default to English.

Please note that this is 32bit lxde which should be run only on top of porteus 3.2.2 32 bit. Your signature says otherwise.

Coud you also verify your downloaded module with the provided md5sum?

How to delete items from "The main MATE menu"?

This may not be what you want, but you can remove the "Places" and "System" from the "custom menu" (that has 3 menus), so that you are left with just the "Applications" of the custom menu, which does not have the "Places", "System" and "Lock Screen" that you do not want. From a terminal run: gsettin...
