DOH! <facepalm> I've told people looking for kiosk software that it was slackware based , i wrongly assumed all this time that it was stripped down version based Porteus.

I can't even remember the last time i have even seen anyone mention Gentoo around forums , wonder what made him decide on that as a base.....

evan the kiosk porteus have nothing to do with slackware is gentoo based,,,,

@ Evan, Reasons: 1. Gentoo is rolling release - this is important from updates point of view. 2. Prefer to compile everything from sources and portage helps a lot.

Ok that makes sense , i didn't consider updates and wrongly assumed Kiosk would be JeOS with just enough OS to run Firefox.

furry_nova: booting 1st time, from USB.
FURRY_NOVA - 23 Mar 2017, 22:36
I'm not sure. Unless USB not supported or damaged. I've known USB ports to fail on my old PC and disconnect middle of actions.

I remember using my SD card to run Porteus but kept getting corrupt xzm modules due to my SD card port.
Announcement: The Porteus Development Team is proud to announce the immediate availability of Porteus Desktop 3.2.2 and Porteus Kiosk 4.2.0! Go here for more information.
